The Far Rockaway Arverne Non-Profit Coalition (FRANC) and Edgemere Commons have partnered to bring our community the first rendition of the Edgemere Community Scholarship. As part of our mission to empower youth in the Rockaways, we will award $3,000 to 10 high school seniors and college freshmen entering the university during the 2025 Fall Semester.
We are seeking hardworking individuals and influential leaders who inspire positive change. Students must upload an essay or video presentation that shares their personal journey and delves into the relationship with their community. Additionally, you must present proof of your feats and character through a letter of recommendation and validation of 3 community service events within the past 12 months. DEADLINE EXTENDED - Complete and submit the general application before March 21st, 2025 Note: Students must be admitted to a university to qualify and must be a Rockaway resident. FINAL EXTENSION |
After the applications close, the top applicants will be screened out and presented to the Edgemere Community Development Advisory Committee. The committee will then vote on which applications move forward to be funded.
If the scholarship is awarded, additional post-acceptance steps are required, such as an acceptance letter from the university, a receipt from the bursar's office, etc.
Funds will be dispersed to the university 30 days after receiving the required documentation.
